KD 3 BHM
These are the Nike Kevin Durant 3 Black History Months. Nike released 4 Black History Month shoes - The Kobe VI, Jordan III, AF1, and Converse Star Player EV. These are one of the pairs that did not release and in my opinion the best one. I love shoes that are subtly loud. They are subtle so they aren’t screaming “look at me” but if someone does look at them it keeps their eyes. I feel like these do just that. The leather quarter panels as well as the floating strap are a matte black which makes the shoe have different textures but the same coloring which makes the already detailed shoe even more outstanding.
It would be my honor… to be your new stepfather. Kobe IV Mother Lovers.
(It is ridiculously hard to capture the color of these)
These shoes were made for a 4 on 4 basketball tournament in Washington. The four members of the team were Kyle Yamaguchi, Jason Petrie, Yuron White, and Albert. The skit they are made after is the “Mother Lovers” skit by Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg on SNL. It was the follow up to the famous “Dick in a Box” and was done the saturday before mothers day.
Here’s the link to the skit http://youtu.be/X0DeIqJm4vM?hd=1
Derrick Rose = 2010-2011 MVP. He is the youngest MVP in NBA History. He averaged 25 PPG, 7.7 APG, and 4.1 RPG. I received these from one of my acquaintances fittingly on the day he received his MVP trophy. They are game worn and signed (JSA Authenticated). These will definitely be going in my display case which I will be getting soon.
Here are the Jordan 2011 Year of the Rabbits. These shoes have amazing detail! The grey is very smooth patina leather which is actually the first time that type of leather is used on a tennis shoe and is normally reserved for dress shoes. Each shoe is then put through a hand burnishing process so each shoe made is not exactly the same. These also have a clear sole with gold speckles instead of the normal clear that the other ones have. The insoles in the YOTRs say Brooklyn on the quick and explosive has a Jordan shield. The gold is to represent wealth, red to symbolize good luck, and grey to represent a rabbit. These shoes are amazing in person and I prefer the exposive insole for casual wear and the quick insole to play in. Either way these shoes are amazing and I haven’t been this excited for the Jordans since the XX3s and XIVs. Great job again Nike, I can’t wait to try these out to the hardwood.
I like three college teams. Oregon Ducks for Football, Texas Longhorns Basketball, and USCs Football and Basketball. Here is a few of my Oregon Ducks things as well as a couple WDYWTs of the shoes. The first picture is a group shot of a couple Trainer 1s, Trainer 1.2s, and the socks they wore for the BCS title game. The 2nd picture is my WDYWT of the Trainer 1s at the Getty Museum this past weekend during NBA All Star Game. The TR1s have a lot of details like grey nubuck over most of the shoe, elephant print ankle cushioning, suede yellow toe box and heel, patent toe on the outside as well as on the tongue, and carbon fiber print on the midsole. There is the O branding on the toe, O with wings on the heel, and a duck on the tongue. My Trainer 1.2s are featured in the 3rd picture for WDYWT and have a carbon fiber print on the toe box as well as the heel. I definitely think that Nike should have taken advantage of all the hype of the Ducks getting to the BCS title game this year by releasing some shoes and not just the usual shirts, hoodies, jackets, etc. They could have make a huge killing off of it even if they made it a quickstrike. Oregon has the volt color that everyone is growing to love as well as the carbon fiber print which is absolutely bananas! The Oregon Ducks logo is also something that is extremely creative and on point. Nike, please release some Oregon Ducks shoes! I know you have those Green and Yellow Hyperfuse, Jordan Team 2010s, and the popular Jordan IXs.
Nike Huarache Trainer Alpha Black/Volt/Cool Grey
First of all I have to say, AMAZING job Nike. This has to be one of the greatest colorblockings on a shoe and the additions of the three laces (Black, Volt, and Grey) as well as the independent pod insole. These Huaraches were introduced the same time that the BCS football jerseys for the Oregon Ducks (WTD), TCU Horned Frogs, and Boise State Broncos were introduced. One thing that consumers love that Nike does is gradient and clear soles (they do the clear soles more than the gradient) and both of these are on this shoe. They should definitely do gradient more on various styles of shoes since people eat it up and it is definitely my favorite thing that Nike can do on a shoe. I can not wait to wear these with my Oregon Ducks LaMichael James Jersey Hoodie. Thank you again Nike.
Jordan III White Cement Retro 2011
You know the story about these. I definitely have to give props to Jordan Brand on these. The retro box, hang tag, and spec tech card make for a great package that fans fell in love with right away. The quality on these are top notch and something I was surprised and very excited about. A lot of the complaints from the Jordan heads is the lack of quality of recent releases for example the plastic leather feeling that looks great but is not comfortable. The leather on these however is soft and comfortable right out of the box. If quality like this continues then the future releases this year (Jordan XI Concords, True Blue IIIs, Black Cement IIIs [rumored], Metallic Vs, Playoff XIIIs, etc.) is something that fans should definitely make fans even more thrilled!
Jordan 2011 Interchangable Insole
I personally am indifferent about the Jordan 2011’s look but, they incorporated an amazing idea in these that makes the shoe incredibly versatile. The idea is of course the insole or in this case insoles. One has zoom heel and forefoot zoom air which is advertised as “quick” while the second insole has a 3/4 length air unit for a cushioned and “explosive ride”. I feel the first insole I mentioned will make a player more explosive and is guard/wing player oriented. The second insole which has the air unit will be more cushioned I feel will be more suitable for the bigger man who still likes to drive to the hole. Jordan Brand definitely hit the spot on designing a shoe that can cater to multiple positions and not just one. I can not wait for to see how these perform on the court. They have the potential to be pioneers of more shoes coming with multiple insoles and maybe even the start of Nike/Jordan insoles. Great job on this one Jordan Brand…
